Plot Summary for
Advancer Tina (1996)
It is the year 3113. Thirty centuries have passed since the Earth was consumed by toxic pollutants, forcing mankind to flee into the galaxy in search of life-sustaining habitats. Enter Advancers - brave explorers who risk their life exploring new uncharted worlds for humans to live on. To unite these new worlds, a new interplanetary government was formed, with all new planets and space colonies falling under it's jurisdiction: The Allied Earth Government, the Domestic Union of Arms (DUA). When the DUA sends out Advancers to explore a mysterious planet called Omega 13, one by one, Advancers pay the price with their lives-never to return from their mission. Mugal, a top DUA officer proposes the job to an unlikely candidate: Tina Owens, a renegade Advancer serving a 2,000 year sentence for blowing up an entire planet. The mission is simple: locate habitable land on Omega 13, If Tina doesn't accept the job, she'll will rot in prison. If Tina accepts, her sentence will be slightly reduced, with the risk of death. While there's no doubt the trip to Omega 13 is filled with peril, nothing can compare to what awaits the crew once they arrive on the deadly planet.

Advancer Tina (アドバンサー・ティナ) is a hentai OVA about a woman who becomes an Advancer – an elite explorer of frontier worlds – in exchange for the commutation of her 2000-year criminal sentence. As is inevitable for such situations in this genre, she encounters many hostile, tentacled aliens eager to engage in sexual activity with her.

Synopsis:
It's the year 3113. Tina Owen is an Advancer. Advancers are fearless explorers who venture to uncharted regions of space in search of habitable planets. But Tina has a problem. She has to serve a 2000-year jail sentence for destroying a planet on one such mission. The government has a proposition for Tina: if she goes to Omega-13 and finds out why so many Advancer parties have never returned, they just might be able to do something about her sentence. But the survival rate of Omega-13 is nearly zero. What if Tina herself never returns?

Review:
Despite being a hentai feature, Advancer Tina has a solid plot that could work well even without the sexual elements. Things advance (he, he) at a good pace, and Advancer Tina doesn't do the sex-every-other-minute sort of thing. The main character Tina Owen is a strong and capable heroine, unlike the usual cutesy and helpless girls of hentai flicks. She never seems to lose her composure even when in less than optimal situations, and she's adept at martial arts and weaponry.

Advancer Tina has a lot of action (both sexual and non-sexual). Body parts fly and blood spills all over the place. Some of the tentacle rape scenes go too far and are downright gross, just thinking of them makes me feel queasy. Advancer Tina is simply not for the squeamish. The art and animation aren't anything special. The characters look okay at best, and the movements could use more fluidity. Surprisingly, the English dubbing has stronger language compared to the subtitled version. The dub is fine, except for the annoying voice of Tina's little girl sidekick whose name escapes me.

To sum it up, Advancer Tina is sci-fi, action, and hentai rolled into one.

Synopsis
Kick-butt intergalactic adventure grrrrl Tina Owen plea bargains her way out of a "planetary destruction" sentence by accepting a treacherous mission for the Domestic Union of Arms: she must infiltrate and investigate the dangerous environs of an outlaw planet, Omega 13--and make it back alive. Not recommended for children under 18 due to graphically violent scenes.
